At The Base Of The CrucifixionAt The Base Of The Crucifixion

This small exhibition in the calm and quiet of the lower gallery, comprised two monotype studies (Woman of Jerusalem I & II), two major painting studies (pictured here) and also engravings and silk-screen studies. They illuminate the choices, versions and decisions Chris Gollon faced and made over 8 years as he worked toward the completion of his 14 Stations of the Cross. As you will have seen from the Latest News and Commissions pages of the Chris Gollon website, all 14 Stations of the Cross have been used a first time at St John on Bethnal Green in the Good Friday service 2008. This exhibition was to coincide with this and the completion of this historic commission, which has been widely featured in the national press.
