In June 2005, Chris Gollon produced three separate editions of 25 etchings: Magdalene, Girl Praying and Sleeping Woman. This beautiful single-line hard-ground etching was made by the artist at the Cambridgeshire-based Limberhurst Press print studio. Chris Gollon chose single-line etchings over the cross-hatching or aquatint techniques used previously, since he was interested to focus on the abstract beauty of the shapes within the image and on the simple lyricism of single lines. This is a delicate work because of the few lines, but the correct drawing gives her considerable life and presence.
