This is the first lithograph Chris Gollon has produced. He was making monotypes at Goldmark Atelier, Rutland, with master printmakers Ian & jan Wilkinson in February 2010. Once through the press, the paper was peeled off a monotype plate to reveal the finished print. Usually (monotypes being single prints) the plates are then wiped and a whole new image begun. However, Gollon noticed the ink remaining on the plate in this very rare case held much of the original image. So he turned it over onto a lithographic stone and asked Ian Wilkinson to run it through the etching press. The stone being slightly porous, it took the ink and image initially and Gollon then reworked the image on the stone with more ink to make this new image. It is an edition of only 10 lithographs, each signed and numbered by the artist.
