This wonderful large amethyst is set in a 9ct gold cradle setting so the whole stone can be enjoyed. As this season of festivity begins, we thought this would be the perfect gift, since the ancient Greeks believed an amethyst protected its owner from drunkenness. They wore amethyst and carved drinking vessels from it in the belief that it would prevent intoxication.

(Photography by @your_own_light_studio,and (with wine) by John Wight).

Paul has exhibited in Goldsmith’s Hall, and has made jewellery for many Hollywood stars including Jack Nicholson, Liv Tyler and Leonard Nimoy. He also was commissioned by RIBA to make the Stirling Prize for Architecture.
