Although an accomplished draughtsman, Chris Gollon did not do many drawings, they are quite rare in his oeuvre. He liked to go straight to canvas to get the images out of his head. However, occasionally, as here in January 2011, he was snowed in and could not get to his studio. This is one of the drawings he did on a snowbound winter's day, perhaps thinking of warmer climes, a beach scene complete with a 'poseur' showing off his torso, typical of Chris Gollon's warm humour and how he always nonetheless gave dignity to all his figures.
