'Love (I)' was a very popular painting from Chris Gollon's 'Love Series', which he painted during his second sojourn as Artist in Residence at Durham University. For his second Residency, it was the summer term 2011, and Gollon took the opportunity to choose his own subject matter, that of human love. He looked at unrequited, requited (as here), the love that is friendship, or that between siblings, and unconditional love.
Love (I) was a very popular image, and the Goldmark Atelier, where Chris made his monotypes, suggested making an unlimited edition of giclée prints of the image, using a 12-colour process on 300gsm fine art paper, allowing many people to enjoy the image. There are only two left which Chris Gollon signed.
