This painting is part of Chris Gollon's LOVE Series (2011-2012), painted during his second Residency at Durham University. During that sojourn, he was able to choose his own subject matter, and he chose to look at the many forms of human love, from unrequited to parental love, love between siblings, envy, lost love, and the love that is friendship, or the loss of that love or as here, romantic love.
