This is one of Chris Gollon’s last paintings, completed shortly after he finished the series of 23 'Gimme Some Wine' paintings, and painted as he was waiting for the date for major surgery in April 2017.

Painting himself with fingers crossed, it is an image that seems extraordinarily and defiantly alive.

Private collection.  Loaned to the 2019-2020 museum retrospective of Chris Gollon's music-related works 'CHRIS GOLLON: Beyond the Horizon', at the Huddersfield Art Gallery.
