Birds (II)

Unique mirror. Size: 140 x 41.5 x 3 cm (mirror panel: 92.5 x 39 cm), weight: 8 kg. Stamped, signed and dated on the reverse.

This mirror is in a portrait format, it juxtaposes early nineteenth century bird prints with a contemporary minimalist aesthetic. This design is the second of a forthcoming series of six unique mirrors. The top section features three of the hand coloured prints, which all date from 1802, with three painted glass panels. The frame is constructed in beech wood and is hand painted, it has four coloured stripes of increasing width running laterally across the front.

Each print is fitted within a shallow box frame and glazed with conservation grade glass with a UV filter of 99%. Additional protection is afforded by the inclusion of black museum grade cotton cardboard spacers ensuring the glass does not touch the prints. The frame and panels use nine colours from the range by Farrow & Ball: Blazer, Babouche, Yeabridge Green, Brinjal, Mahogany, Inchyra Blue, Vardo, Calke Green and Eating Room Red.

The frame is backed with 3mm MDF and has an integral split batten so that it will hang both flush and securely on your wall.

IAP Fine Art is also offering the first mirror in the series, which is in a landscape format in tinted oak and painted wood.
