'Hillside with Wall and Water' is an abstracted view of the undulating hills of Blackburn’s native Yorkshire. His characteristic web of black pastel lines and dots map the contours and trees. The wall itself is reduced to a thick, dark meandering line which separates the hills from the water at the bottom of the picture. The water itself is represented by blue tones which are then echoed in the sky at the top right.

David Blackburn: Works from the Studio Estate museum exhibition was at the Huddersfield Art Gallery, summer 2019.

Provenance

From a private collector, who purchased this work from the artist.
